There Is\u00a0a lot of meaning\u00a0In\u00a0The\u00a0Story\u00a0Of\u00a0Joseph\u00a0And\u00a0The\u00a0Coat\u00a0Of\u00a0Many Colors.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Let\u2019s review the story.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Genesis 37:3-4\u202f<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate\u202frobe for him.\u202fHis brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers; and {so} they hated him and could not speak to him on friendly terms.<\/span><\/i>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joseph\u2019s coat<\/span><\/b>\u202fof<\/span>\u202fmany colors<\/span><\/b>\u202fwas given to him as a gift by his father, Jacob. His father was also known as Israel and favored<\/span>\u202fJoseph<\/span><\/b>\u202fover his other brothers. Because of this gift, he was resented by his brothers, who saw the coat as a sign that<\/span>\u202fJoseph<\/span><\/b>\u202fwould assume family leadership.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joseph is loved by Jacob but hated by his brethren<\/span><\/b>. In Joseph\u2019s history, we see something of Christ (a simile), who was first humbled and then exalted. It also shows about Christians, who\u00a0<\/span>must through many tribulations<\/span><\/i>\u00a0enter into the kingdom<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The merchants sold Joseph to an Egyptian named Potiphar who served as captain of Pharaoh\u2019s guard. Joseph excelled in his service and was appointed as overseer of the house of Potiphar (Genesis 39)<\/strong>. And the LORD blessed the Egyptian\u2019s house for Joseph\u2019s sake (<\/strong><\/span>Genesis 39:5<\/strong>)<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The life of Joseph gives a testament of the sovereignty and grace of God for those who live faithfully and righteously. Despite being sold into slavery by his brothers, Joseph remained faithful and trusted in God to deliver him from tribulation. Additionally, this story shows how God\u2019s plan may not be obvious to our limited perspective but indeed\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201call things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
